NMC Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021
Every partnered government medical university in Uzbekistan is curated to satisfy all regulatory clauses, ensuring your degree is fully recognized back home.
Course Duration
NMC mandates a minimum of 54 months (4.5 years) of academic medical studies. Partnered Uzbek government universities offer a 6-year course structure, exceeding this requirement.
Clinical Internship
Must include a compulsory 12-month clinical clerkship or internship at the same university teaching hospital, which is integrated into the 6th year of the Uzbek curriculum.
English Medium
NMC requires the entire course of study and examination to be conducted in English. Our partnered universities teach international cohorts 100% in English.
Licensure to Practice
FMGs must be registered and licensed to practice medicine in the country of study. Uzbek universities issue official license registrations to graduates, meeting this rule.
WHO Listings & ECFMG/FAIMER Certifications
To practice medicine internationally, a university must be globally recognized. All partnered government medical institutes in Uzbekistan (Tashkent Medical Academy, Samarkand State Medical University, Bukhara State Medical Institute, Andijan State Medical Institute, etc.) are indexed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS).
This indexation includes crucial certifications:
- FAIMER (Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research): Validates medical school credentials globally.
- ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates): Enables graduates to apply for the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) to practice in the USA.
- GMC (General Medical Council) UK recognition: Enables graduates to take PLAB/UKMLA licensing pathways to practice in the United Kingdom.

Frequently Asked Questions on Recognition
Are medical degrees from Uzbekistan recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) in India?
Yes. All partnered government medical universities in Uzbekistan are approved by the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, indexed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS), and comply with all four clauses of the NMC 2021 Licensure Regulations, making their degrees fully valid in India.
Do Uzbekistan medical universities issue license registrations to foreign graduates?
Yes. In compliance with the NMC's requirement that foreign graduates must be eligible to register and practice in the host country, Uzbek universities issue official license/registration certificates to international students upon successful graduation.
